Teaching is delivered in intensive week-long blocks at our Ministry Centre. The availability and running order of courses varies from year to year – view this year’s programme schedule and the full list of MTh courses available:

How does it work?

Any individual studying the MTh at our Ministry Centre may opt to study one course per year online - either a language course in real time (via Zoom) or a course being offered by an available online Learning Community, by agreement with the Programmes Team.

Full-time campus studies – in one year

Entry point: mid-August each year

Students complete six of the courses scheduled for that academic year, beginning with Teaching Week 1 (see Campus Schedule), and the dissertation is submitted within 3 months of completing the taught element.

Part-time campus studies – over up to 4 years

Entry point: any teaching week (with the exception of Biblical Languages – see below)

Students spread their courses evenly over two or three years, and submit their dissertation at any time in the year after completing the taught element.

Biblical Languages courses

All MTh-level Languages courses require prior study, and enrolment is subject to successful completion of a pre-entry test.

Students choosing a Biblical Languages course must attend all 3 of the Language weeks, beginning with Language Block A (see Campus Schedule), and can join in-person or online in real time (recordings are not available).

Full-time students can only study one Languages course; part-time students can take one Biblical Languages course in each academic year.

What will I learn?

Students study at least one course from each of the three areas in the chart below, including Scripture & Hermeneutics (compulsory). 
All courses include an essay which is due for submission 7 weeks after the essay title is given.

With approval and guidance from a supervising faculty member, students also complete a research dissertation where they can explore a chosen subject in more depth.

Application deadlines for campus-based MTh are as follows:

  • For a January 2025 start: 1st  November 2024

  • For a March 2025 start: 20th January 2025

  • For an August 2025 start: 15th July 2025

Accommodation

Students usually come to stay at the Ministry Centre for their teaching weeks, and are welcome to bring their families. To book on-site accommodation, please visit this page.

The MTh is also delivered through local and online Learning Communities, meaning that you can study wherever you are.
