Madagascar Update from Union’s Executive Director
Last month, I had the privilege of visiting our ministry partner in Madagascar, Pastor Faly, who is based in a local church in the capital city of Antananarivo.
The ministry he leads is doing an impressive amount of gospel work in the local community and across the nation, from publishing and printing theological books to training preachers, running youth camp, a new medical ministry, and working with people with disabilities.
Whilst there, I met with denominational leaders, pastors, potential Union students, and business leaders. We hosted 30 Christian business leaders for a dinner where we spoke about generosity and stewardship, we heard testimonies and issued them with a challenge to give to support local church ministry.
Madagascar has many churches, but the prosperity gospel and syncretism are everywhere, and only an estimated 5% of churchgoers are evangelical. Our vision is to come alongside Madagascan churches and contribute to an ecosystem that enables raising up of leaders and growing of churches.
We have already begun translating Union Publishing books into French, working towards a conference in 2026, and providing support for mission. This September, we’ll launch a Learning Community with Union School of Theology where students from different cities and networks can study a UK-accredited theological degree.
Union is well-placed to help leaders seed a reformation, calling Christians back to the true gospel of Christ. A key next step is to provide non-formal training for leaders in Madagascar who cannot afford formal training.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to provide 100 scholarships for Union Grow to strategic Madagascar church leaders. $50 will scholarship one leader. Would you prayerfully consider giving $50, $100, or $250 towards this initiative?
